The SmartCAM family of computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) software provides tool path modeling and CNC programming for prismatic production work to complex molds, dies, and prototypes to an established customer base of over 12,000 companies in 67 countries.
SmartCAM consists of applications for CNC Milling, Turning, Fabrication and Wire EDM. Version 16.5 continues the solids-machining theme found in the many recent releases, and adds significant improvements for the everyday use of solid data in SmartCAM, and delivers a wide variety of visualization, verification and usability improvements that improve the day-to-day methods and strategies users enjoy
Version 16.5 delivers a variety of new enhancements and capabilities to the SmartCAM suite, including new tool path generation routines for roughing and finishing prismatic and complex pocket and profile features directly from the solid model (for Advanced Milling™, Advanced Turning™ and FreeForm Machining™) V16.5 integrated data translators provide greater import and export options for both solid and wireframe models. Standard translation capabilities now include SAT format and STEP format for wireframe, and surface/solid data. V16.5 also has two new optional native translators for SolidWorks® and Autodesk® Inventor®.
All existing SmartCAM users can benefit from the huge reduction in
programming time using the new automated solids machining pocketing process found in the SmartCAM advanced milling applications.
Automated Tool Path Creation. Creating tool path from a Solid model using wireframe pocketing and profile methods requires extracting profiles and slicing the model at various depths.
If you have complex pockets with tapered walls, fillets or island tops, programming is very tricky, often resulting in less than optimum tool path.
Automated pocketing tool path creation with the new solids machining processes is as simple as picking the pocket, setting your cutting options and clicking “go”.
Using these new advanced automated processes has shown up to a 75% reduction in programming time, and substantially higher time-savings for complex pockets that have drafted walls, corner fillets, island and shelves.
For a limited time, existing SmartCAM users can easily and economically, upgrade their old seats to latest version or upgrade their old seat to a more advanced SmartCAM product.
